I was invited to take part in the Bepanthen Bedtime Challenge with BritMums. For this challenge we were sent a 30g tube of Bepanthen Nappy Care Ointment to help protect Zander’s little bottom against the cause of nappy rash.
Bepanthen is the only leading nappy care product meeting all the 9 gold standards of an ideal nappy care product. This means Bepanthen:
Is clinically proven for babies delicate skin
Enhances the natural protection of the skin
Maintains optimum moisture levels
No unnecessary ingredients
Contains ingredients with documented safety and benefit
Is free from potentially toxic ingredients
Is free from potential sensitisers such as fragrances
Contains no antiseptics or preservatives
Is pleasant to use
The best way to deal with nappy rash is to prevent your baby from getting it in the first place. Bepanthen Nappy Care Ointment forms a long-lasting, breathable and transparent layer to gently protect even the most delicate skin against the causes of nappy rash. The ointment not only helps to protect your baby’s bottom, but cares for it with pro-vitamin B5, which gently aids the natural recovery of babies’ skin whilst keeping it soft and moisturised.
Now that Zander is sleeping through the night (most of the time) I do worry that being in a wet nappy for up to 12 hours will affect his bottom, making it red and sore especially as I try to change him pretty much every 2 or 3 hours during the day with the hope that he won’t get nappy rash.
I have been using Bepanthen both during the day and at night but as this is a Bedtime Challenge I will tell you what I do before he goes to bed.
So at bedtime I will wash him, making sure his bottom is completely clean and dried. I then apply a thin layer of Bepanthen onto his bottom, making sure it covers all areas that the wetness usually hits and especially in the creases that would get the sorest when wet for a while. He is then put in his bedtime clothes, fed a bottle, has a cuddle then goes to bed.
It is a thick cream/off white coloured ointment, which when smoothed onto the skin leaves a waterproof barrier.
Since using Bepanthen he has had no sore bottom at all, not even a little bit of redness and I can assure you that he fills those nappies, they are really heavy when I change them in the morning!
In the morning I usually change is bottom, wash it again and dry it, then apply another thin layer of Bepanthen on it.
Zander is always a happy boy in the mornings, as soon as he wakes up he is jabbering away, with lots of smiles and giggles.
I would recommend it to any parent with babies and toddlers that wear nappies.
