We had never been to a huge theme park before and as part of our review of the Samsung Galaxy K Zoom smartphone and the 100 Days of Family campaign we were also given a family ticket to visit Chessington World of Adventures so we could give the Samsung Galaxy K Zoom a proper try out.
The day started off with a car selfie.
We arrived mid morning after driving for around 2 hours and after looking at the Chessington World of Adventures map we started getting our bearings and found a screen that told us the waiting times for each ride. This was pretty disappointing as some rides wait times were 2 hours and there was no way my seven year old would wait in a queue for 2 hours. Although this did hamper our plans to try every ride it also made it a better day as Chessington World of Adventures also have a zoo and Sealife Centre on site so we decided to take a walk over to those.
Armed with my Samsung Galaxy K Zoom fully charged we went around the zoo which my daughter found ever so interesting, she loved all of the animals we saw except for the spiders. (click images to see the larger version).
I took over 100 photos with the Samsung Galaxy K Zoom, I didn’t use any of the Pro Select Modes as I was still finding my way around the camera settings at that point so it was literally point and shoot or point, zoom and shoot and using the focus button.
I found that the 10x optical zoom was perfect for what I wanted to take photos of as a lot of things were high up or far away and the zoom brought in it fantastically and I was really happy with the photos I took using it.
We found the sealion board pretty interesting, espeically my oldest daughter who spotted that Harley was born the same day she was so they were the same age.
When we had gone around the zoo we visited the Sealife Centre which was again fantastic and my youngest even got to hold a shrimp which she was pretty chuffed with. She was amazed by all of the different species of fish they had there and was reading every information board there.
I couldn’t believe how much time had passed just by visiting the zoo and Sealife Center, It was past 3pm already and my daughter was asking to have a go on some rides.
We did find that the children’s rides had a shorter wait time that she would be able to cope so we took her over to them but she insisted that she wanted to go on them on her own. The issue we had was that she hadn’t been on a ride that goes in the air before ever so I knew it would be a big deal for her. We let her do it on her own and it was classic. The faces she pulled, we knew she was scared, at one point she had her eyes tightly shut and I couldn’t stop laughing at her. Once she was off of it she wanted to go back on so she must have enjoyed the thrill of it even though it scared her senseless.
We also got to watch the Madagascar show which again was fantastic.
Unfortunately I think I must have got a little too snap happy as after over 100 photos at around 3.30pm the Samsung Galaxy K Zoom’s battery died. This was a little disappointing but it is also a learning curve. Next time I would make sure I took either a spare battery or a power bank with me just in case the phone was running low.
After having a meal at one of the food halls we decided we would see what the queue times were like, again the waiting times were long but we did manage to go on a few of the rides in the time we had left.
Overall it was a great day, the weather held up and the kids enjoyed themselves, I loved taking photos of almost everything I saw.
We were all very tired by the end of the day and finally reached home after 9pm so it was a really long day.
I would definitely go again although I would probably stay in one of their hotels over night so we could do all of the park and not have to worry so much about queue times.
I do love the Samsung Galaxy K Zoom, yes it is heavier than other smartphones on the market but it is more than just a phone it has a fantastic camera that does a lot more than a regular smartphone camera so of course it will be heavier. It would be nice to have more memory as 8gb isn’t much when you have apps and photos on it but then again you can purchase Micro SD cards which will store lots of photos.
My full review of the Samsung Galaxy K Zoom will be posted soon.
Thank you Samsung for gifting us a fabulous day out at Chessington World of Adventures and the fantastic Samsung Galaxy K Zoom #100DaysofFamily
